Senior Scientist I, Protein Analytics & Biophysics

Generate Biomedicines seeks a Senior Scientist I to lead analytical characterization and biophysical workflows supporting protein discovery and the company's machine learning platform. The role combines hands-on experimentation with cross-functional collaboration to assess protein quality, stability, and molecular interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on analytical and biophysical workflows to evaluate protein stability, aggregation, and developability attributes
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot separation methods including chromatography-based protein characterization
• Execute binding analyses using SPR and related affinity measurement technologies
• Contribute to mass spectrometry workflows characterizing protein identity, mass, heterogeneity, and post-translational modifications
• Provide technical leadership on assigned methods, establish best practices, and support cross-functional project teams

Requirements

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, analytical chemistry, or protein science with 4+ years relevant experience
• Strong expertise in biophysical protein characterization including stability, aggregation, and developability assessment
• Practical experience with protein separation techniques such as SEC, IEX, HIC, or capillary electrophoresis
• Experience with surface plasmon resonance (SPR) or related binding kinetics technologies
• Proficiency with mass spectrometry workflows for protein characterization
• Strong scientific judgment and ability to design experiments with appropriate controls and data interpretation
