Senior Scientist I, Computational Protein Design
Generate Biomedicines
Generate Biomedicines seeks a Senior Scientist to develop computational methods and lead applied research in protein design and engineering. The role combines technology development with platform research, bridging computational innovation and experimental validation to advance protein therapeutics.
Responsibilities
- Identify capability gaps and lead technology development projects from hypothesis to validated platform
- Develop computational methods for protein design, optimization, and interaction modeling
- Create scoring systems and benchmarks to evaluate protein sequences, structures, and functions
- Partner with experimental scientists to design molecular libraries and conduct iterative studies
- Build agentic systems and workflows connecting models, data, and experimental tools
Requirements
- Experience developing computational methods for protein design or molecular engineering
- Proficiency with generative and predictive modeling approaches
- Strong background in structural biology or biophysics
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute iterative design-build-test studies
- Experience translating research findings into validated, reusable capabilities
- Collaborative experience with experimental and structural scientists
