Commercial Construction Superintendent

About The Role

Reporting to a Director of Construction, the Commercial Construction Superintendent will oversee daily field operations across multiple active commercial construction jobsites. This role is responsible for directing crews, coordinating onsite activities, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality and safety standards, and resolving jobsite issues as they arise.

The ideal candidate has strong commercial construction experience, a solid understanding of construction methods and practices, and the ability to lead crews while remaining hands-on when needed to meet project deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-3:00 PM, with potential variation based on project needs, including occasional evenings or weekends.

Primary Responsibilities

Jobsite & Crew Management

• Oversee daily operations across multiple active commercial construction jobsites.
• Schedule, direct, and coordinate onsite crews to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
• Lead and train crew members, providing guidance and support when assistance is needed.
• Work hands-on with crews when necessary to maintain productivity and meet project deadlines.
• Make informed decisions and resolve issues based on changing jobsite conditions.
• Start up new jobsites and establish an organized, safe, and efficient work environment.
• Coordinate onsite activities with project managers, subcontractors, and other members of the construction team.

Project Schedule & Coordination

• Develop and maintain short-term schedules to keep projects on track.
• Monitor daily progress and identify potential delays or obstacles.
• Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and onsite activities to support project schedules.
• Communicate project updates, challenges, and potential solutions to the project management team.
• Coordinate subcontractors and other trades as needed to maintain workflow and minimize disruptions.

Quality Control & Project Completion

• Monitor jobsite quality and ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and company standards.
• Identify, document, and manage punch list items through completion.
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections to identify quality concerns or potential issues.
• Ensure jobsites remain clean, organized, and ready for ongoing work and inspections.

Safety

• Promote and maintain a safe work environment for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and project-specific safety procedures.
• Conduct or participate in regular safety meetings and jobsite inspections.
• Address unsafe conditions and practices promptly.

About You

• 4+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, Foreman, or similar role in commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, processes, and practices.
• Experience managing multiple active jobsites and coordinating crews and trades.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions and effectively solve problems in changing jobsite conditions.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
• Strong understanding of jobsite safety and OSHA requirements.
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Willingness and ability to perform hands-on construction work alongside crews when needed.
• Ability to travel between jobsites within approximately 60 miles of Annapolis, MD.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or other construction/project management software is a plus.

Our headquarters is located in Annapolis, MD , and this role will oversee projects located within approximately 60 miles of our headquarters .

Compensation

$35.00-$40.00 per hour , based on experience.
