Customer Service Representative – Public Sector Field ServicesLocation: Southeastern San Fernando ValleySchedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PMWe are looking for a Customer Service Representative to join our Public Sector team, with a unique focus on supporting sustainability efforts through field work and community outreach. In this role, you'll split your time between the office and the field, conducting waste assessments and site surveys across the Southeastern San Fernando Valley. Your mission will be to help improve recycling and organics diversion while educating local businesses and residents on best practices, while ensuring contractual obligations.Key Responsibilities:Conduct on-site waste audits and surveys at customer locations 50% of the time.Engage with customers to provide education and support around recycling and organics programs.Enter and analyze data related to waste stream observations and compliance using MS Excel and other tools.Work collaboratively with Public Sector staff to support sustainability goals and regulatory compliance.What We're Looking For:Strong customer service skills and a passion for environmental sustainability.Comfortable working outdoors and traveling locally daily.Adaptable, organized, and able to manage shifting priorities.Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.Valid Driver's LicenseAdditional Perks:Participate in WM's vehicle reimbursement program for daily travel needs.Be part of a mission-driven team making a direct impact on the community and environment.If you're someone who enjoys blending service, education, and fieldwork, and you want to make a difference, this could be the role for you.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.Conduct regular site surveys and waste audits to ensure trash, organics, manure and recycling service levels comply with franchise contract requirements.Educate customer on the benefits of the recycling program and what goes in recycling bins.Educate customers and their employees on the importance of recycling, food rescue and resource recovery as well as all City, State, and Federal mandates, and works with customers to implement services, increase recycling and reduce contamination.Ensure type, size and location of bins as well as collection frequency meets franchise contract (if applicable) and WM requirements.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.A. Education and ExperienceEducation: Minimum High School Diploma or GED (accredited).Experience: Minimum six (6) months relevant work experience resulting in successfully obtaining customer appointments.B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other RequirementsCurrent active state-issued driver's license.C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities RequiredStrong organizational, customer service, writing and communication skills.V. Work EnvironmentRequired to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the work day;Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds often (primarily lifting container lids to perform waste assessment);Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) often;Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often;Normal setting for this job is: traveling to and from customer sites within the assigned territory and/or office settingThe expected base pay rate for this office/on-site position is $23.00 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
