Patient Access Technician OCED

Position Summary FTE: .01, Shift: variable, Schedule: 12 hr shifts. The Patient Access Technician (PAT) is an exciting opportunity at MultiCare, responsible for welcoming patients at one of our Off‑Campus Emergency Departments. This position works closely with both financial and clinical teams and will offer you the space to create the optimum patient experience. Responsibilities Assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy, procedures and regulatory requirements. Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process inpatient admission, including arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms. Pre‑admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process. Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system to notify other areas. Complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic, insurance and/or third‑party liability information. Perform eligibility verification, resolve any discrepancies, determine need for financial assistance recommendation and application, and refer to the Financial Counselor when necessary. Requirements Graduate of a health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general (required). One year of admitting, billing, registration or customer service experience may be considered in lieu of education. Pay and Benefit Expectations We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.88 – $37.85 USD. Pay is influenced by factors such as skill set, level of experience and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will reflect the appropriate pay‑scale step for the applicant’s years of experience.
