Grants Manager
Full-Time | Hybrid | Brooklyn, NY | $80,000–$90,000
Reports to: Senior Director of Institutional Giving
This is an exciting time to join CAMBA.
As CAMBA approaches its 50th anniversary, our Development & Communications team is entering an exciting new chapter—building on a strong track record and preparing for an ambitious, transformational fundraising campaign that will help shape the organization’s future. We’re looking for a Grants Manager to be part of that work.
You’ll join an established fundraising team with a history of success at a moment of new energy and growth. Under the new leadership of CAMBA’s Chief Development & Communications Officer, our nine-person Development & Communications division operates as an integrated team, with fundraising, communications and marketing professionals working collaboratively toward shared goals.
The Grants Manager reports to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving and joins a three-person grants unit responsible for securing critical public and private support for CAMBA’s programs.
This is an opportunity to manage your own portfolio while learning from experienced colleagues, strengthening your fundraising skills and gaining exposure to a wide range of programs, funders and organizational leaders. You’ll be mentored, challenged and given opportunities to grow—and to build the experience and body of work that can help advance your career.
If you are a strong writer who is curious, organized and ready to grow as a fundraising professional, we want to hear from you.
Individuals with lived experienced as LGBTQ, immigrants, people of color, survivors of trauma, and other identities are strongly encouraged to apply.
About CAMBA
CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners working together to build an inclusive New York City where children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.
Across more than 180 integrated programs in education and youth development, family support, workforce development, health, housing and legal services, CAMBA serves more than 70,000 New Yorkers annually at approximately 100 locations throughout the city.
For nearly 50 years, CAMBA has combined the scale and expertise of a leading human-services organization with deep roots in the communities we serve.
About the Team
CAMBA’s Development & Communications division is a nine-person integrated operation encompassing institutional and individual fundraising, communications and marketing.
Collaboration is central to how we work. Team members bring different areas of expertise but work together across functions, giving the Grants Manager opportunities to contribute beyond individual proposals, learn from colleagues and understand how fundraising, storytelling and engagement work together to advance CAMBA’s mission.
Within the division, our three-person grants unit manages a substantial portfolio of government and private institutional funding. As Grants Manager, you’ll have ownership of your work while receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced fundraising leadership.
You’ll also collaborate with program experts, finance professionals, data and evaluation staff, and senior leadership across CAMBA—giving you a firsthand understanding of both how successful proposals are built and how a complex human-services organization turns funding into impact.
What You’ll Do
Build compelling proposals.
Manage a portfolio of public and private funding opportunities from start to finish, including letters of intent, proposals, applications, reports and other funder communications.
Find new opportunities.
Research government, foundation and other funding prospects that align with CAMBA’s programs and priorities.
Tell CAMBA’s story.
Turn program information, data, outcomes and complex ideas into clear, persuasive narratives that demonstrate need, impact and opportunity.
Bring people together.
Work across CAMBA with program leaders, fiscal staff, the Data Analysis, Research & Evaluation team and senior management to develop competitive proposals and ensure submissions are accurate, ambitious and achievable.
Manage the details.
Own deadlines and submission requirements across your portfolio and coordinate the many moving pieces required to produce high-quality proposals and reports on time.
Understand the numbers.
Partner with fiscal and program teams on proposal budgets and financial reporting and develop a strong understanding of government contracting and grant requirements.
Support strong funder relationships.
Help ensure that CAMBA’s funders receive timely, thoughtful and accurate information about the programs and outcomes their investments make possible.
