Project Accounting Analyst

Overview The Project Accounting team is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of Vitol’s asset-based projects, including booking project-related transactions, monitoring project budgets, and providing real-time reporting and analysis to project teams and management. Responsibilities Reporting and Analysis Track and report on project capex and opex budget to actuals, providing real-time and lookback views for development teams Support the preparation of project board reporting, including capex and development spend and operating EBITDA Maintain documentation of board approvals, project budgets and forecasts Support audit and financial statement preparation for project entities as needed Project Controls and Vendor/Developer Relationships Own relationships with project developers and vendors, ensuring timely communication and resolution of financial issues Review unpaid invoices and open cash, identifying and reporting outstanding items to project teams and developers Project Expense Processing Review and reconcile project costs, ensuring completeness and accuracy against project budgets Monitor and report on project cash flow, including remittances, deposits, and prepaids Process and book all project-related invoices (including capital expenditures, development deposits, prepayments, and operating expenses) Prepare and review journal entries for project transactions, including accruals and reclassifications as assets are received or projects progress Maintain documentation of board approvals and project status, summarizing and communicating key impacts to other accounting teams Other Support transaction activities for purchases and sales of assets Read and summarize contracts and agreements related to transactions, leases, construction, and energy offtake Build new processes and identify automation opportunities for existing processes using tools such as Alteryx, AI, and Python Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred 2 years of experience in a General Accounting function CPA strongly preferred; must be CPA eligible at a minimum Fundamental accounting skills required Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Outlook and Word Successful Candidates Be self-motivated, detail-oriented and highly organized Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a wide variety of people with courtesy and professionalism Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks, often with strict or changing deadlines Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Be curious, creative and up for a challenge Have a genuine desire to build relationships across a global business Have strong quantitative, analytical and critical thinking skills Have a strong sense of accountability and ownership of key deliverables Earn the trust of others by continuously demonstrating the ability to follow-through Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment.
