Nursing Faculty

Job Description: Primary Responsibility Colorado Mountain College is seeking full-time faculty to join our nursing faculty team at the Spring Valley campus. With teaching and learning at the center of what we do, chosen candidates will join a team of 13 full-time faculty and over 15 part-time faculty across three campuses, dedicated to inspiring and educating the next generation of highly skilled, caring, and compassionate nurses. This full-time faculty position will begin in July 2026 with a 30-credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. Nursing faculty work under the supervision of the Dean of Nursing, who is also the Chief Nursing Officer. Major areas of instruction include classroom instruction, simulation lab and clinical teaching. The successful candidate will teach nursing courses which will include but not be limited to: advanced medical surgical nursing theory and clinical, professional nursing practice, nursing evidence-based practice and research. This position may include night, weekend, and teaching at alternate locations, along with possible interactive video teaching and other use of technology in teaching. Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include teaching course load as assigned; evaluating courses and assessing student learning; meeting established course, program and student learning outcomes; complying with guidelines and policies; maintaining office hours per established standards; developing rapport with students; assisting with and participating in advising; participating in orientation; and registration activities. CMC Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, peer mentoring, participation in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention. Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards) Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include: A Master's degree in Nursing and 2000 verifiable related occupational experience hours within the past 5 years and a minimum of one year demonstrated teaching/training experience (or equivalent in part‑time role). An active, unencumbered Colorado RN license or the ability to obtain a Colorado Nursing license is required. A Doctoral degree or current enrollment in a Doctoral program is preferred. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $105,299.58 - $123,240.83 annual salary depending upon a combination of education and experience. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate's skill and experience. Although a salary range is listed, salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Minimum Qualifications: EssentialDuties The following responsibilities and activities are listed in order to maintain consistency in the application of expectations and align job duties with evaluation and promotion procedures. CMC Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and enhance learning. Service activities such as campus and college committees, participate in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention. All faculty acknowledge that final payment of any contract may be withheld until submission of grades is complete. 1.A.1 Teaching Responsibilities CMC faculty members are expected to meet the educational needs of our communities by fulfilling the following responsibilities:Teach course-load as assignedEvaluate courses and student learningMeet course, program, and institutional learning outcomes established by CMCComply with department guidelines and college policiesMaintain at least five office hours per week to meet with studentsDevelop rapport with students that is professional and encourages teacher/student communicationAssist with academic advising of studentsParticipate in orientation and registration activities 1.A.2 Scholarly and Creative Activities CMC faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and improve learning. Examples of these activities may include:Continuing certification in discipline (if applicable)Graduate courseworkContinuing educationSharing expertise within discipline (e.g., grant writing, publishing, exhibitions, performances, presentations, conferences)Attending campus and college-wide trainings and in-servicesConducting researchDeveloping/advancing instructional technologyOther activities approved by faculty member and Assistant Dean of Instruction 1.A.3 Service Activities For CMC to best serve its diverse communities, faculty members are expected to participate in a variety of organizations and committees. Service activities may include the following:Serve on campus and college-wide committeesRepresent discipline on state, national, and international levelsParticipate in relevant projects with administrative approvalMentor peersModify, develop, and maintain curriculumAssist with assessment activities (e.g., develop learning outcomes and assessment projects for courses, disciplines, and programs)Assist with program reviewAdvise student organizationsParticipate in recruiting/retention activitiesAttend and participate in program, discipline, in-service, and campus meetingsDevelop promotion portfolioParticipate in community service activities (as appropriate) 1.A.4 Organizational Relationships CMC recognizes that student learning is greatly enhanced by successful collaboration among faculty, staff, and administration. Regarding CMC's reporting structure, faculty members:Are under the general direction of the site school discipline dean or designee;Cooperate with other program faculty;Work with Student Services personnel in advisement of students; andWork cooperatively with Academic Services, Student Services, and Administrative Services personnelSupervisionof the Position Supervisory Responsibility The position may supervise staff positions and/or student employees. Working Conditions This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally.
