INVESTIGATOR I, INVESTIGATOR II, AND INVESTIGATOR III

Job Title Investigator I / II / III (260004OV) Agency Office of the Attorney General, Health Care & Fair Competition Bureau, Medicaid Fraud Division Position Overview We are seeking highly motivated candidates to join the Medicaid Fraud Division as an Investigator. The role involves complex criminal and civil investigations into allegations of fraud and abuse among Medicaid providers, as well as abuse and neglect in long‑term care facilities or health care settings. Responsibilities Conduct investigations, including reviewing complaints, accessing Medicaid claims, performing data analysis, researching program rules, and developing investigative plans. Analyze financial records, medical records, and conduct interviews, surveillance, and public records searches. Serve subpoenas, support the execution of search warrants, draft investigative reports and memos, and secure evidence. Act as a witness in criminal and civil proceedings and perform additional investigative tasks to root out fraud, waste, and abuse. Available for early morning or late evening hours as required. Position Type Full‑time, non‑exempt. Hybrid model with remote workdays; on in‑office days must report to designated office location in Boston or a regional office. Salary Investigator I – $68,738.08 Investigator II – $75,611.27 Investigator III – $83,172.50 (commensurate with experience) Application Process Apply directly through the Attorney General’s Office employment portal at . Applications submitted via the MassCareers website will not be received. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. Experience required by level: Investigator I: 0‑2 years of relevant experience. Investigator II: 3‑4 years of relevant experience. Investigator III: 5 or more years of relevant experience. At least one of the following: Background in complex criminal or civil investigations. Background in health‑care compliance, fraud investigations, regulatory compliance, auditing, or accounting. Experience working in healthcare settings such as home health, pharmacy, dental, nursing, nursing homes, clinical laboratories, or ABA. Law enforcement experience at the local, state, or federal level. Experience using Microsoft Excel and Access preferred. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Bilingual candidates are encouraged. Reliable transportation or a valid driver’s license required for travel.
