Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is to execute the essential functions of a nurse by assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care within the Emergency Room setting.

Essential Job Functions

• Plan, prioritize, and deliver proficient nursing care that is age-specific and developmentally appropriate, ensuring patient comfort and safety through advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
• Accurately and consistently document medical records in a clear and concise manner.
• Monitor and record patient signs, symptoms, and behaviors, including physiological status.
• Propose revisions to interventions and desired outcomes as necessary.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Implement physician orders in the provision of nursing care.
• Collect laboratory samples and conduct lab tests following established policies and regulations.
• Adhere to infection control protocols, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques during patient care.
• Facilitate admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
• Engage in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care provided.
• Prepare equipment and supplies for various diagnostic or treatment procedures, assisting with or performing treatments in accordance with legal and institutional policies and nursing standards.

Other Job Functions

• Conduct all assigned Quality Assessment activities and document findings.
• Participate in staff meetings or other mandatory gatherings as required.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required; BSN preferred.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse without sanctions is mandatory.
• A minimum of 2 years of full-time RN experience in an ER or similar setting is required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association are required; ENPC certification from ENA may substitute for PALS; TNCC certification is preferred.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is essential.
• Pennsylvania Candidates: Must have completed Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance) and Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) within the last 5 years, or obtain them prior to the start date.
