The Teacher provides high-quality instruction that supports students' academic growth, critical thinking, and engagement in learning. At CISD, this role ensures students receive rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for future academic and career opportunities. Teachers build positive classroom environments, monitor student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure every student receives the support needed to succeed.

The Teacher develops lesson plans aligned with state standards and district curriculum. They use assessment data to inform instruction, design lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners, deliver engaging instruction that promotes critical thinking and student participation, use a variety of instructional strategies to support student learning, provide opportunities for student discussion, writing, and problem-solving. They monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, provide timely feedback to students, and adjust instruction based on student performance data. They establish a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment, implement classroom management strategies that support learning, collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities, participate in professional development and school initiatives, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.

The Teacher maintains emotional control under stress, works with frequent interruptions, and uses standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals. They may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours. Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
