Oversees the efficient operation of the Rehabilitation Program at designated site(s). Provides an optimum environment for health enhancement and staff development. Ensures that the staff has the skills and training to perform within acceptable guidelines. Utilizes interdisciplinary collaboration and available resources to provide services. Leads the department in activities to enhance safety, quality, efficiency and access of rehabilitative and fitness services. Evaluates, plans and implements a goal oriented therapy treatment program that focuses on restoring function and preventing further disability. Provides an optimum environment for functional goal achievement and health enhancement. Utilizes interdisciplinary collaborative and available resources to direct and lead responsibly to enhance quality, efficacy, access, and financial growth of the rehabilitation department.
This position will be overseeing the inpatient operations for the 630 bed licensed facility (JSM) that is soon to be expanding its capacity. The position will oversee the JSM outpatient facility in Neptune which conducts close to 50,000 patient visits a year. It will also oversee a small outpatient facility in Manalapan and assist in the launching of a small outpatient facility in Freehold.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Director of Rehabilitation Services at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Relationship Management: Assesses and reconciles problems between the Business Unit and other hospital departments, medical staff and customers adequately and efficiently.
- Operations Management: Acts as a liaison for all aspects of business operations including financial management, marketing/promotion, and physician relationships. Oversees management of the day to day operational activities of the assigned departments. Establishes goals for the department and ensures appropriate staffing is budgeted and available. Assists with team member education as necessary. Represents business unit and program initiatives on the hospital leadership team. Responsible for patient satisfaction in all areas of responsibility, promoting the best experience for all patients and guests.

- Strategic Planning: Has a clear vision of the future of the business unit and works actively with all internal and external customers to fulfill this vision. Effectively implements strategic plan and milestones. Effectively evaluates role of technology and recommends plans to technologically advance department. Identify resource needs (people, equipment, facilities) to support implementation of plans.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and oversees all inspections; makes appropriate modifications as required with changes in regulations. Develops a plan of action to citations when necessary.
- Provision of Service: Ensures appropriate clinical practice activities are being delivered to patients within the established standards of care. Therapy is provided in a safe environment, utilizing proper body mechanics. Ensures patient evaluations and plans of care are administered in a manner appropriate to the patient's disability and needs. Ensures appropriate treatment techniques are implemented with patients.
- People Management: Manages and/or assists in the recruitment, development and supervision of team members. Creates and sustains an environment that fosters team member engagement. Establishes clear objectives tied to department and/or organizational strategic goals. Coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports.
- Financial Management: Involved in the development and/or management of budget for assigned areas. Regularly monitors relevant key financial indicators and performance metrics, modifying business activities where needed in response to changing financial situations.
- Data Management and Analytics: Track, analyze, and report on relevant data and metrics as needed and/or requested. Develop, recommend and/or implement actions or process improvements as appropriate.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech, or Audiology.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with two year's supervisory experience.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Master's degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech, or Audiology.
- Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience with five year's supervisory experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- NJ State Therapy License

Compensation Minimum rate of $148,262.40 Annually HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
