Participates in community education opportunities regarding breastfeeding, research projects, speaking engagements, and other company committees. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Communicates effectively [Required] Skilled in teaching adults and adolescents [Preferred] Triage care based on patient needs [Required] Organizational Skills [Required] Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques that are central to the profession [Required] Skill in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for the breastfeeding mother and baby acquired through 1-2 years of experience as a lactation consultant [Preferred] Current research information regarding Breastfeeding [Preferred] Maternity nursing and Newborn nursing knowledge [Preferred] Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing [Required] Ability to use Interpreter service appropriately [Required] Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish [Preferred] Education: Associate's of Nursing [Required] Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred] Work Experience:

1. acute care hospital [Preferred]
2. maternity or newborn experience [Preferred]
