HR Generalist FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to Human Resources and Business Systems Administrator Grade 3 ($19.30-$30.30 Based on experience and qualification) SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Provide comprehensive HR support across recruitment, employee relations, and compliance. Lead recruitment efforts, including prescreening candidates and supporting hiring managers through selection and onboarding. Serve as primary liaison for employee matters such as ADA accommodation and workers' compensation, and ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines. Maintain accurate processing of personnel changes and payroll through the HRIS, and support benefit enrollment and communication. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Recruitment & Personnel Changes (app. 45%): Work with managers in posting and filling the positions needed in their ministry. Serve as the primary contact for employment offers. Triage applications and prescreens for open positions to ensure cultural alignment and insights of candidates. Assist in verification process for potential staff members and processing onboarding forms. Conduct HR orientation and ensure accuracy throughout the onboarding process. Ensure accurate processing of personnel changes utilizing the HRIS system. Work with managers in processing employee changes. Conduct employee meetings for job changes and offboarding. HRGeneralResponsibilities(app. 30%) Participate in planning and organization for HR-led meetings. Serve as a communicator for meetings. Maintain employee files. Verify employment information as requested for current and former employees. Participate in Employee Handbook updates and communication of changes to staff. Prepare and send staff communications. Assist in responding to staff inquiries. Serve as a liaison for ADA, Workers’ Comp, and FMLA requests. Support leadership in strategies to accomplish HR initiatives. Assist in completing compliance and required reporting as directed. Payroll (app. 15%) Review timecards for alignment with policies and procedures. Process payroll through the HRIS system. Assist in ensuring accuracy of wages, deductions, benefit premiums, and payroll taxes. Assist in verification of tax forms and distribution to employees. Benefits (app. 10%) Process benefit enrollments and accomplish accurate documentation for payroll processing. Ensure accuracy of benefit additions, changes, and terminations with vendors. Participate in the organization of and preparation for annual open enrollment meeting. Assist in communicating benefit information and changes to staff and assist with benefit questions and issues. Requirements EDUCATION/TRAINING Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of education. EXPERIENCE A minimum of 5 years of experience in HR practices. Experience with HRIS systems. Working knowledge of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, Workers' Comp). Experience with recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations. Experience administering benefits and leave programs. Payroll support/coordination experience. REQUIRED SKILLS Proficient computer skills - comfortable accessing information and using programs on multiple operating systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel. Knowledgeable of data entry processes and best practices. Attention to detail. Coordination, organizational, public speaking, and time management skills. Knowledgeable of Planning Center Online system (preferred). Detailed knowledge of confidentiality procedures and protocols. Positive temperament, dependability, and professionalism. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Sitting, standing, finger dexterity, and near vision. Manual dexterity with the ability to reach at, below, and above shoulder level. View and operate technological devices, including but not limited to computers, phones, and printers. Accomplish tasks using near field of vision. Communicate verbally to exchange information, including public speaking or presenting. Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS This position works primarily indoors.
