The King County Department of Information Technology (KCIT) is seeking Senior Software Engineers to join our Software Engineering team. In this role, you'll design and deliver modern, cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Sitecore and other technologies. You'll also support and enhance legacy applications and serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical issues.

Job Duties

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

• Design and develop cloud-native applications using Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and Azure services (e.g., Logic Apps, Function Apps, App Service, API Management).
• Build and maintain custom integrations and solutions using APIs, SDKs, and enterprise service layers.
• Develop and support web-based applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React and Angular.
• Enhance and modernize legacy applications across a variety of platforms and technologies.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, source code, documentation, and work items using Azure DevOps.
• Implement and support Dynamics 365 customizations, workflows, Power Automate flows, and model-driven apps.
• Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical issues within your application portfolio.
• Create and maintain technical and user documentation; provide training and knowledge transfer to team members and end users as needed.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and development practices; actively share knowledge and collaborate with peers across teams.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience developing solutions within the Microsoft development stack, including several of the following:
• Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
• Dynamics 365 (model-driven apps, workflows, customizations)
• Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Web API,.NET Core, Entity Framework 6+
• JavaScript, AJAX, HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks such as React or Angular
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services, including:
• App Service, Logic Apps, Functions, API Management, and Service Bus
• Familiarity with relational and non-relational data storage design and implementation.
• Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and Git-based version control.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to synthesize complex technical and business information.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in or with public sector organizations, particularly in a government or civic technology environment.
• Microsoft certifications in Azure, Power Platform, or Dynamics 365.

Supplemental Information:

Hybrid Work: The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of onsite work and telecommuting. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support when working remotely.

Work Schedule: The normal work week for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay.
