OR Scheduler

The Operating Room Scheduler performs a variety of duties under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services/Operating Room Manager, to ensure smooth operation of the perioperative areas. This position serves as a liaison between staff, physicians, hospital departments, and the public to provide optimum level of care to patients and assist the Department with other duties as determined. Responsibilities Answer telephone in a respectful manner, accept Operating Room bookings and record them into the Operating Room Scheduling System. Schedule perioperative procedures accurately within hospital and department guidelines. Fax routing forms to the Resource Center. Email Operating Room schedules daily. Contact vendors for equipment and supply needs and provide updates to the Operating Room Manager. Maintain inventory of all lenses on consignment, ensuring sufficient supply for patient surgeries. Obtain CFB for supplies in the absence of the OR Systems Coordinator. Coordinate with Central Supply and OR Materials Coordinator to ensure vendor supplies are delivered for cases. Manage tissue log for all incoming tissue and check expiration dates. Communicate pertinent information in a timely manner to the appropriate staff members or management. Effectively use automated systems to perform work assignments. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience: Prior OR scheduling experience strongly preferred; prior experience in a hospital setting preferred. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency required. Licenses / Certifications: N/A.
