Job Description

The CNC Lathe & VTL Machinist will perform a variety of finish machining practices involved with drilling, threading (tap & thread mill), boring, etc., while maintaining close tolerances on a wide variety of components from various industries. The ideal candidate needs to be fluent with Fanuc Controls. The candidate must be able to read and interpret drawings, work instructions, read and understand programs, all to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Must have basic hand & measuring tools, indicators, etc.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting.
• Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on our specific equipment, but basic skills are required beforehand).
• Advanced oral and written communication.
• Advanced math skills to calculate tolerances and dimensions.
• Must be able to read and understand Blueprints and G-Code.
• Must be familiar with basic machining practices involved in turning, milling, drilling, threading operations.
• Must be competent reading drawings and following instructions necessary to produce usable and saleable parts.
• Must be proficient with the use of, the care of, and the calibration of all types of measuring devices (i.e., micrometers (OD and ID), dial calipers, dial indicators, etc.).
• Must possess and provide basic tools required for the execution of the position of machinist.
• Must be able to comply with all safety directives and programs established by the Company and or our customers.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• The above list of activities is not all inclusive but a general representation of the requirements of an RMS CNC Lathe & VTL Machinist. This list is subject to change based on the needs of the company.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 years or more of CNC Lathe Machinist experience preferred.
• Proficient in running horizontal lathes, milling machines, VTL.
• Capable of reading drawings and proper use of calibrated measuring tools.
• Read drawings and use of micrometers.
• Basic machining knowledge and practices required

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• The position will be based full time at our Chicopee, MA manufacturing facility.
• This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends may be required based on employee or business needs.
• This position can be required to participate in the company random specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Ability to professionally handle stressful situations.
• Able to understand, read, write, and speak English.
• Outgoing personality to interact with entire company.
• Organization skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to legally work in the US and provide proper documentation.
• Ability to sit for long periods of times, able to reach above head, bend and stand.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug, alcohol test and background check.

Work Environment:

Based out of our Chicopee, MA manufacturing facility.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be in a shop environment and will be exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal particles.
