Title: Machinist B - CNC / VTL (2nd & 3rd Shift)
Location: Springfield, MA
Schedule : 2nd Shift (3p-11p) & 3rd Shift (11p-7a)
Compensation : $24.00 - $29.00/hour (based on experience and skill level) -- Annual Equivalent: $49,920 - $60,320 + Straight Time Overtime

What You'll Be Doing:

• Set up and operate CNC and/or VTL machines, machining parts to precise specifications (
• Rough and finish machine complex rotating equipment components requiring multiple co-related machining operations.
  
  
• Select and install proper tools, fixtures, and machine attachments using standard or specialized tooling.
  
  
• Calculate and set machine controls (speed, feed, depth of cut, coolant flow) or input/edit CNC programs.
  
  
• Use blueprints, drawings, process documentation, and specifications to guide machining processes.
  
  
• Perform self-inspection and document results using Self Inspection Reports (SIRs) or route tags.
  
  
• Verify final product dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
  
  
• Conduct follow-up operations such as deburring, polishing, grinding, and threading.
  
  
• Operate overhead cranes and follow all safety protocols for material and machine handling.
  
  
• Maintain production goals and quality standards with minimal supervision.
  
  
• Collaborate with team members to resolve machining challenges or improve processes.
  
  
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC or VTL machine operation
  OR
  
  
• Trade school certification in machining combined with hands-on shop experience.
  
  
• High School Diploma or GED required
  
  
• Trade school degree or machinist certification preferred
  
  
• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machinery, including VTLs, mills, lathes, grinders, jig borers, etc.
  
  
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  
  
• Strong knowledge of shop math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
  
  
• Ability to use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
  
  
• Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  
  
• Familiarity with safety practices, QA procedures, and routine machine maintenance.
