Job Description – Maintenance Manager Flex‑N‑Gate is a leading manufacturer and supplier of components for the automotive industry, recently ranked 10th of the 150 Top North American Suppliers in “Automotive News.” Department Maintenance Reports to General/Plant Manager Summary The Maintenance Manager coordinates the installation, maintenance, and repairs of all company machinery and equipment within the facility, including maintenance or repairs of the building or property. The Manager oversees maintenance personnel in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner, adhering to company policies and all legislative requirements. Coordinate regular preventive maintenance on daily equipment and facility such as replacing light bulbs. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment. Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report unusual situations to proper supervision. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Involve in all aspects of building maintenance for new construction, renovations, or updates. Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for projects. Work with site‑wide building maintenance to ensure compliance to any construction, renovation, or updates. Update project information and maintain project files. Organize drawings and prepare drawing packages to support project activity. Support department management, project managers and consultants as required. Maintain information in company records systems and department databases. Set priorities for preventive maintenance work orders, requisitions, and scheduled work. Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for the maintenance department. Requisition work through Purchasing. Attend meetings as required. Meet with Fire Department, Hydro, etc. as required. Complete necessary reports and records related to the department. Drive company vehicles as required. Coordinate painting and decorating of interior and exterior surfaces. Adhere to departmental procedures and systems for preventative maintenance and quality improvement. Organize minor construction work such as dismantling and erecting walls, finish carpentry, pouring concrete. Maintain inventory of new equipment, manuals, and warranties. Operate computerized preventive maintenance program. Troubleshoot and maintain various electrical components, appliances, and equipment. Schedule preventive maintenance checks of all electrical alarms. Install and repair plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment. Organize mechanical and preventive maintenance work on equipment such as circulating pumps, air handling systems, and refrigeration. Initiate safety concerns and make judgments on best methods of completing tasks. Responsible for snow removal and ice safety. Responsible for landscaping and the overall aesthetic look of company property. Account for short‑term planning and keeping authorities informed of decisions. Prepare monthly reports and budget. Prepare capital plan in consultation with unit maintenance committee. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed. Ensure awareness and management of the Environmental Management System (EMS) as per policy. Ensure awareness and management of the Quality Management System (QMS) as per corporate manual. Requirements Community College in a related field. Five years in a mechanical/electrical capacity as a tradesman or five years related experience. Highly motivated and able to work independently. Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing. Ability to multi‑task and establish priorities. Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment. Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership. Possess thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures. Ability to perform small repairs (e.g., caulking, replacing washers, and light fixtures). Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation. Possess a valid driver’s license. Able to create alternative solutions to problems. Excellent time management and project management skills. High level of sound independent judgment and reasoning. Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures. Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills. Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Statistical Process Control for Machine Capability. Possess ISO: 14001 knowledge. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. Work Conditions 24/7 availability may be required. Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lb. Travel to on‑site and off‑site locations required. Safety equipment required (steel‑toed boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.). Hazards associated with the trade. Ability to work inside and outside, in cold and hot environments. Will be exposed to construction sites.
