TELEMETRY TECHNICIAN

Department and Schedule Department Central Monitoring Unit Schedule - Shift - Hours Full Time - Night Shift - Three (3) 12-hour shifts per week Variable days (not fixed) Rotating weekends , 1900-0730 Summary Telemetry Technician is responsible for continuous observation and documentation of cardiac rhythms displayed on the telemetry monitor and for identifying and reporting any cardiac arrhythmias or changes in patient’s rate or rhythm. Position Highlights Highlights of the role include continuous cardiac monitoring, rapid identification of arrhythmias, and detailed documentation of patient cardiac status. The Ideal Candidate Knowledge of medical terminology, including basic anatomy and physiology of the heart and conduction system. Credentials and Qualifications Required High School Diploma/GED Ability to accurately interpret rhythm strips and recognize EKG changes. Must complete EKG Knowledge Assessment Tool – administered upon hire Preferred EKG Certification Successful Completion of a formal EKG Program Basic Life Support (BLS) One (1) year of experience working in a hospital or ambulatory care setting Two (2) years of EKG interpretation preferred EEO Statement Moffitt Cancer Center is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
