Electronics Research Engineer

Salary: $89,300 - 148,700 per year Requirements:

• We require a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline with experience in power electronics and controls, or a masters degree plus at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• We require 3+ years of experience conducting power electronics research using model simulation and the design of power electronic circuits and control systems.
• We require 3+ years of experience developing and testing power converters and power electronic devices.
• We require 3+ years of experience creating and validating control solutions for power converters and devices.
• We value familiarity with DC grid architectures, including medium- and high-voltage DC.
• We value exposure to energy storage technologies.
• We value experience with microgrids and the grid integration of renewable energy sources.
• We require legal authorization to work in the United States.
• We require the ability to hold a current active Secret Clearance and the potential to obtain Top Secret Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
• We require willingness to work from our office in Niskayuna, New York.

• We develop new power electronics concepts as part of our R&D organization.
• We model and simulate power electronics systems to advance technical solutions.
• We design and test power converters and converter submodules.
• We test and characterize power electronic devices.
• We design EMI filters for converter applications.
• We contribute to the creation and implementation of advanced power conversion concepts for power generation, transmission, and distribution.
• We collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to plan, develop, and transition technologies from concept to products and services.
• We help drive innovation in the power electronics domain for our next-generation product platforms.
• We prepare written reports and deliver presentations to clearly communicate analyses, findings, and recommendations.
• We stay connected to emerging industry technologies and trends and bring that knowledge back to our organization.
• We support proposal development efforts for our businesses and government agencies.
