Quality Manager

Position Summary The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that ensure products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards. This role leads all quality assurance and quality control activities within the manufacturing facility, drives continuous improvement initiatives, manages customer quality concerns, and works cross‑functionally with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and operational performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Quality Systems Management Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer‑specific requirements, and applicable industry standards. Lead internal and external quality audits and oversee corrective actions. Maintain quality documentation, procedures, work instructions, and records. Monitor and report key quality metrics, including scrap, defects, customer complaints, and cost of quality. Quality Assurance & Control Establish quality standards for raw materials, in‑process production, and finished products. Oversee inspection, testing, and measurement processes to ensure product conformity. Ensure calibration and maintenance of quality inspection equipment. Analyze quality data and identify trends to reduce defects and improve process capability. Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities. Customer & Supplier Quality Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and audits. Manage customer complaints, warranty claims, and corrective action responses. Coordinate customer visits and quality reviews. Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve incoming material quality. Conduct supplier audits and evaluate supplier performance. Continuous Improvement Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, improving yields, and increasing customer satisfaction. Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, PFMEA, and other quality tools to improve manufacturing processes. Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams on process validation and product launches. Drive a culture of quality throughout the organization. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop Quality Engineers, Quality Technicians, and Inspectors. Establish departmental goals and performance expectations. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and training. Promote a safe, collaborative, and accountable work environment. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Experience 5+ years of quality leadership experience in plastics manufacturing required. Experience in injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, thermoforming, or related plastics processes preferred. Proven experience managing quality systems in a manufacturing environment. Experience interacting directly with customers and leading audits. Technical Skills Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and quality management systems. Experience with SPC, MSA, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Root Cause Analysis. Knowledge of quality inspection methods and metrology equipment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Preferred Qualifications Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM), or Six Sigma certification. Experience with medical device, packaging, automotive, or consumer products manufacturing. Familiarity with FDA, GMP, or customer‑specific regulatory requirements.
