1st Shift Small Engine Tech

Midway Staffing is seeking a motivated, dependable Small engine tech to join our team on the first shift in the research and development department. This versatile position lets you contribute to various aspects of our manufacturing and warehouse operations, including supporting the research and development team. Location: Decatur, AR
Schedule: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
Pay rate: $14 (during training), $15 (upon completion of training)

Primary Purpose:
Provide technical support for research and development through testing and product evaluation.

Job Description:

• Set up, run, and monitor small-engine testing.
• Oversee product performance and life testing.
• Coordinate use of a wide variety of test equipment.
• Conduct product evaluations to verify compliance with product specifications.
• Gather and document test data and report results.
• Evaluate and maintain test equipment, water system, and lab supplies.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Evaluate line-rejected engines to determine the failure cause and whether the root cause is a warranty issue; if so, document the failure and manage the paperwork to return the engines to an authorized warranty center and receive them back into stock or receive credit, as appropriate. 
• Work towards becoming an authorized service center so FNA can do its own warranty repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to use simple and complex test equipment.
• Possess good mechanical skills and aptitude with small engines.
• Pass an in-house blueprint-reading and shop math test.
• Good oral and written communication skills; ability to work well with others.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• General computer knowledge with spreadsheet and word processing programs preferred.
• Ability to read/interpret documents.
• Basic electrical experience.

Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED required. 
Other Duties as Assigned:
Other duties may include working in other areas to provide support during absences or staff shortages.

Equipment Used:
Testing Station, gas/oil vacuum, computer, forklift, automated power lift stations, box hoist, pallet jack, box knife, and assorted hand tools.

Working Conditions:
Extensive walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.  Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; exposure to dampness and humidity; exposure to slippery and uneven surfaces.

Safety:

• Interpret company policies for workers and enforce safety regulations.
• Initiate and maintain proper and necessary safety equipment as prescribed by law.
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques and perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
• Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and immediately report any uncorrectable conditions to the supervisor.
