Must-Have: Strong Neuro ICU experience (minimum 2 years)


Description:
RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite.
Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation.
The unit will not accept first-time travelers.
Locals are accepted with a rate difference.
Required skills include experience with vents, IV start, and neuro intensive care unit.
Candidates must have the ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
Experience with blood product administration and central line care is required.
Familiarity with continuous IV sedation and CVA/acute stroke management is necessary.
Candidates should have experience with external ventricular drains, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgery management.
Care for ventilated patients, understanding isolation precautions, and use of PPE is essential.
Lumbar drain experience is preferred.


The unit provides care for a comprehensive stroke patient population.
Ratios are typically 2:1 but can flex up to 3:1 during high census situations.
The average daily census is expected to be between 11-12 patients.
Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
Float requirements are applicable based on unit needs.
Specialty procedures and equipment include EVD, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun.
Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams within the facility.
Special procedures may include management of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, carotid stenting, and more.
All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty.
