JOB TITLE: Sawyer

EFFECTIVE DATE: 5/2/2022

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for operating the PET (Precision End Trim Saw) to fulfill custom length orders of lumber; operating forklift to maintain production and staging/loading finished goods for shipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates PET (Precision End Trim Saw) Saw; includes setup by feeding and removing product from saw.
• Operates appropriate tools/vehicles including forklift, hydraulic bump, pilers, snips, and sledgehammer.
• Prepares orders for shipment.
• Stacks and wraps processed material.
• Loads/Unloads Trucks.
• Manages yard maintenance/housekeeping as required.
• Reports shop supply inventory to leadership.
• Paints and seals the ends of lumber.
• Performs pre-use safety checks on all equipment and tools utilized.
• Maintains condition of equipment and tools.
• Remains in compliance with all safety procedures and use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Completes all job tasks in a timely fashion, prioritized to meet customer delivery expectations.
• Maintains a clean, safe working environment by cleaning debris and sawdust.
• Assists in scheduled cycle & spot counts as needed.
• Assists in coaching new hires during the on-boarding process.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma, six months to one-year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer skills required: Time & Labor Management System; and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook).
• Other skills required:
  1. Solid Communication Skills (both verbal & written).
  2. Ability to read a tape measure.
  3. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication).
  4. Basic computer skills (Preferred).
  5. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Ability to work closely with peers on team orientated goals.
  7. Ability to follow company directives and instruction.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Continually required to stand and/or walk.
• Occasionally required to sit in addition to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
• Occasionally exposed to the following outside weather conditions: extreme heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid.
• While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: Fork-Lift.
