Department: Internal Medicine

Duties & Responsibilities: The faculty member will divide their clinical duties betweenstaffing the inpatient palliative care unit and providingconsultative services. They will collaborate closely with bothpalliative care and medical oncology fellows and will be activelyinvolved in the training and education of residents and medicalstudents. This position offers opportunities for academic growthand participation in quality improvement initiatives within acollaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

Teaching | Trains medical students, residents and fellows while inthe clinic and on the inpatient service.

Research | Reasonable scholarly activities, such as publications,presentations at national meetings and participation in appropriateacademic organizations, are expected as well as activeparticipation as a scientific member of the department and MasseyCancer Center.

Service | It is expected that the person in this position will beactive in decreasing health disparities in the community served byMassey/VCU.

Clinical | Attends on the inpatient wards and consult service,and/or sees patients in the outpatient clinic with a focus onsupportive care.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Board certified or eligible in Hospice and PalliativeMedicine


• Eligible for medical licensure in Virginia


• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
