Quality/Test Engineer 3

Job Description

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality/Test Engineer 3 in Decatur, IL . The work will be done 100% onsite, full-time, on first shift . This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to approximately $45/hr W-2 + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Job Summary

\n

The Quality/Test Engineer 3 will support manufacturing quality operations by leading timely emergency, interim, and permanent corrective actions for customer and internal quality events. This individual will serve as a key liaison between manufacturing plants and component operations, working directly with quality and manufacturing engineering teams to investigate issues and drive root-cause corrective action. The role combines hands-on work on the factory floor with office-based analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement activities. The engineer will also support Built-in Quality initiatives and quality improvement projects using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and Six Sigma .

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead emergency, interim, and permanent corrective actions for customer and internal quality issues.
\n
• Inspect and contain quality concerns, communicate findings and data to factory quality teams, and actively participate in root-cause corrective action (RCCA).
\n
• Apply 8D, Six Sigma, and other structured problem-solving techniques to manufacturing quality issues.
\n
• Lead quality improvement and continuous improvement projects using Office 365 and analytical tools.
\n
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and other cross-functional teams while maintaining effective internal and external customer relationships.
\n
• Serve as an ambassador, coach, and sub-workstream leader for Built-in Quality initiatives.
\n
• Work effectively in a hands-on environment that includes both the factory floor and office .

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• 5+ years of relevant experience. Internships are accepted as applicable job experience.
\n
• Education may include:
\n
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
\n
• Associate degree with 10 years of relevant experience
\n
• Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience
\n
• Strong working knowledge of quality standards and manufacturing operations .
\n
• Experience applying 8D or similar structured problem-solving techniques in a manufacturing environment.
\n
• Working knowledge of engineering, design, manufacturing, and maintenance processes.
\n
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 , including analytical applications.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional approach to working across teams.
\n
• Ability to influence others, lead teams through problem solving, drive compliance, and support continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

\n

\n
• Experience with Six Sigma , 8D, RCCA, corrective action, containment, and continuous improvement methodologies.
\n
• Experience working directly within manufacturing or factory quality operations.
\n
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence cross-functional teams during quality investigations and improvement initiatives.
