Gardening Services Foreman

Position Summary The Gardening Services Foreman is responsible for leading and performing detailed landscape and garden maintenance services on high-end residential and commercial properties. This position requires strong horticultural knowledge, attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to maintain properties to a premium standard. The Foreman will oversee day-to-day gardening operations while working alongside the crew in the field.

Primary Responsibilities

• Weed landscape beds by hand and maintain clean bed lines
• Deadhead annuals, perennials, and flowering shrubs to encourage healthy growth and appearance
• Perform detailed pruning and trimming of shrubs, ornamental grasses, and perennial material
• Identify plant material, weeds, pests, diseases, and general plant health concerns
• Install small enhancement projects including flowers, shrubs, perennials, and ornamental plantings
• Water annuals, containers, hanging baskets, and newly installed plant material
• Apply mulch touch-ups and maintain bed appearance throughout the season
• Monitor irrigation issues and report dry spots, leaks, or malfunctioning zones
• Assist with seasonal color rotations and annual flower installations
• Maintain overall curb appeal and detailed presentation standards on all assigned properties
• Communicate site needs, enhancement opportunities, and property concerns to management
• Ensure crews operate safely and efficiently while maintaining productivity standards
• Operate landscaping equipment and tools safely and properly
• Train and mentor crew members on proper gardening techniques and quality expectations
• Load/unload materials, maintain organized trucks/trailers, and care for equipment

Qualifications

• Previous gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance experience preferred
• Strong plant identification and horticultural knowledge
• Ability to recognize weeds, insects, plant diseases, and common landscape issues
• Experience with perennial care, shrub pruning, and detailed garden maintenance
• Leadership experience preferred
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor throughout the day
• Valid driver’s license preferred

• Knowledge of Northeast Ohio plant material and seasonal maintenance practices
• Experience managing small crews or leading job sites
• Ability to communicate professionally with clients and team members
• Enhancement planting and seasonal color experience
• Basic irrigation troubleshooting knowledge
