SUMMARY

We are a 24/7 extrusion operation. There are 12 hour shifts on a 2-3-2 that typically rotates days to nights every 6 months, also a 9 hour, 5 day a week shift to cover the 24 hour operation. Depending on the needs of the business you may be asked to work any of these shifts as well as overtime. Have a basic knowledge of the facilities’ layout of Compressed Air systems; Chilled Water, Recycled Water and City Water systems; Electrical Distribution Panels, Buss Bar Disconnects, and Primary Circuit Breakers. Responsible for maintaining all equipment in all areas of the plant, and covering all emergency breakdowns and repairs in a timely manner. Possess basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, and basic welding and fabricating skills. Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication, filter inspection and replacement, oil changes, motor and pump replacements, plumbing, painting, cleaning, and any other mechanical and electrical task as assigned. Possess adequate computer skills to use SAP to generate work orders, track labor, and consume materials. Maintain high safety standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Possess the skill and ability to perform all basic mechanical and electrical duties required.
• Cover all emergency breakdowns and repairs in a timely manner.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance Program
• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electromechanical systems, including motors, sensors, and control systems
• Conduct routine inspections and testing of equipment to identify potential issues and perform necessary repairs
• Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately in compliance with company protocols
• Maintain a safe and organized workspace, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies
• Ability to complete routine assignments without direct supervision.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required/Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical principles and systems
• Hands-on experience with basic tools and diagnostic equipment
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
• Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and basic programming knowledge

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools
• Understanding of motor control systems and circuit design
• Basic knowledge of automation technologies

Soft Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The base pay range for this position is $27.00 to $35.00. This range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
