Labor and Employment Associate

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Labor and Employment Associate for its Grand Rapids, MI office. This role is ideal for a mid-level associate eager to develop expertise in a comprehensive labor and employment practice. The candidate will work closely with clients, handling a variety of employment law matters. Duties Counsel clients on discrimination, harassment, retaliation, FMLA, ADA, and wage and hour laws. Conduct or support workplace investigations. Participate in litigation, including depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation. Handle labor matters such as collective bargaining, grievances, arbitrations, and representation proceedings. Advise employers on compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws. Draft and revise employment policies, agreements, and related documentation. Requirements 3-5 years of relevant experience in employment and/or labor law. Experience advising employers, preferably with a law firm or relevant government/public entity background. Exposure to litigation, including depositions, motions, and case development. Experience with public sector clients, investigations, or labor matters is a plus. Strong academic credentials and excellent writing and analytical skills. Collaborative approach to working with teams and clients. Licensed and in good standing in Michigan, or eligible for admission. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications Licensed to practice law in Michigan or eligible for admission. Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
