BI Platform Lead Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering and 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
• We need experience supporting or operating enterprise applications within business intelligence, analytics, or data platforms.
• We require working knowledge of at least one enterprise BI tool such as Cognos or Tableau in an administration or support role.
• We expect strong troubleshooting ability across logs, job failures, performance issues, and access or authentication problems.
• We need foundational Linux skills, including process and service administration, log review, and basic shell scripting.
• We require experience working within IT Service Management processes and ticketing workflows, including incident, problem, and change management.
• We need the ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and non-technical business partners.
• We require experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in infrastructure engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
• We need the ability to review and confirm AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalating when needed and ensuring outcomes align with resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
• Preferred: Cognos administration or support experience, including scheduling, dispatchers, gateways, content store management, and permissions.
• Preferred: Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud administration experience, including extracts, refreshes, permissions, subscriptions, and backgrounder job troubleshooting.
• Preferred: hands-on experience with AI or LLM tools, including prompting, workflow integration, support automation use cases, or accuracy evaluation.
• Preferred: experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or similar platforms for alerting, log aggregation, and dashboards.
• Preferred: scripting or automation experience with Python or Bash for operational tooling and workflow improvements.
• Preferred: familiarity with authentication and single sign-on concepts such as SAML, OAuth, or LDAP as they relate to enterprise application access.

• We troubleshoot complex platform issues across application, middleware, and infrastructure layers, including authentication, connectivity, scheduling, data extracts, permissions, and performance bottlenecks.
• We perform and oversee operational work such as job and schedule monitoring, service restarts, log analysis, capacity reviews, and patch and upgrade support.
• We partner with engineering, infrastructure, and data teams to resolve high-impact incidents and deliver permanent root-cause fixes.
• We support business intelligence users with access requests, dataset and report issues, publishing, subscriptions, and dashboard troubleshooting, while guiding best practices for refreshes, performance, and content governance.
• We identify and implement ways to automate repetitive support tasks, including triage, routing, known-issue matching, and self-service, using AI and LLM-enabled workflows.
• We lead or contribute to pilots of LLM-powered support features such as incident summarization, knowledge article drafting, smart alert correlation, and self-service assistants for common analytics questions.
• We establish lightweight governance for AI use in support operations, including prompt standards, accuracy checks, and safe handling of sensitive data.
• We track and report efficiency outcomes such as mean time to resolution reduction, incident deflection rates, and repeat incident trends.
• We use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
• We apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices in delivery and automation routines to identify recurring issues and validate remediation options, ensuring changes are traceable, auditable, and aligned with resiliency and security expectations.
