Position Title Temp Project Youth Extension Service Staff Intern Position Type Temporary Essential Duties Project YES interns provide youth development programs for children and youth of military families throughout the United States and US territories. Programs may be delivered during Yellow Ribbon events (any phase) and other youth‑centric activities such as councils, leadership summits, family days, and camps. Interns remain at their home university and will travel to event sites to facilitate Project YES programs. Project YES provides high‑level education in leadership development, facilitation skills, youth development, and age‑appropriate curriculum. Interns will also complete a career‑enhancing project during the internship, working with an individually matched mentor to plan activities that prepare them for workforce transition. Work Schedule Interns must attend a mandatory Project YES Intern Orientation (22‑30 May 2020) and a mid‑year training (22‑25 October 2020). They must commit to supporting a minimum of one YRRP weekend per month (Fri‑Sun) for the duration of the internship. After orientation, interns may work 1‑2 weekends a month, but a minimum of one weekend per month is required. Requirements and Preferences Currently enrolled undergraduate (Sophomore‑Senior) or graduate student; must maintain student status for a minimum of six months during the internship. Must be able to work with a wide variety of people productively and effectively. Self‑initiating and capable of multitasking. Effective oral and written communication skills for lay and professional audiences. Interpersonal, team‑building, problem‑solving, and networking skills are essential. Embrace diversity and be tolerant and respectful of individual differences. Experience working with youth, excellent organizational and training skills, and coordination of activities. Ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions. Work independently and within a team construct. Comfortable with social and educational media (Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Collaborate).
