General Manager in Training (Midwest Region)

This role provides meaningful ownership, real operational and financial responsibility, and a clear path to senior leadership within a growing platform. This Midwest‑based role is designed for leaders who are open to relocation within the Midwest region as business needs evolve. Full relocation support is provided based on the location of your opportunity and where your experience is the best fit. You’ll begin by owning a department within one of our successful brands, gaining deep, hands‑on experience in operations, financial performance, and people leadership. Apex Midwest is actively building a best‑in‑class leadership team across the Midwest, including Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. Location & Relocation Expectations Initial placement will be within the Midwest region Openness to relocation within the Midwest is required as we complete acquisitions and expand our footprint Full relocation support will be provided based on business needs and role alignment What You’ll Do Train under an experienced General Manager while learning and executing Apex’s operating playbook Take ownership of a department and lead day‑to‑day operations Develop and execute strategies to drive key performance metrics across operations, people, and financial performance Deliver a “gold standard” of service through coaching, training, accountability, and data‑driven decision‑making Build a high‑performance culture where technicians feel supported, respected, and set up for long‑term success Lead hiring efforts and create upward mobility through skill development and clear career pathingManage financial activities including budgeting and forecasting, with full accountability for P&L performance Serve as a visible, hands‑on leader with daily in‑person presence Who We’re Looking For 3+ years of experience leading and motivating teams; experience in home services or field‑based environments is a plus Proven operational leadership experience required; exposure to P&L responsibility is a plus Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred Playbook-driven leadership style with a bias for action Strong interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills High energy, adaptability, and a proven track record of delivering results Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills Deep respect for the Skilled Trades or other people‑driven, operationally intensive industries Willingness to relocate within the Midwest region as business needs require What We Offer Base salary + performance‑based bonus Full relocation support within the Midwest Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, and 401(k) with company match A clear, structured path to a General Manager role Entrepreneurial growth opportunities within a high‑performing national platform Our Core Values Embrace a Growth Mindset Stay Scrappy, Have Fun Improve Through Collaboration Be Fact‑Based & Metric‑Driven If you’re a high-performing operator who values structure, accountability, and taking care of the people doing the work, we want to hear from you.
