Staff Registered Nurse - OBGYN (Sugar Land)

At Houston Methodist, the Staff Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for functioning at the Competent to Proficient stage of Benner's model of clinical practice. The Staff RN provides professional nursing care to a diverse patient population, conducts nursing assessments, assists with exams and treatment, performs clinical triage, delivers patient education, and maintains medical records. The Staff RN provides direct patient care efficiently and effectively, which may include patients with varied and complex needs. This role communicates and collaborates with physicians and the interprofessional health care team to facilitate and coordinate compassionate, efficient, quality care and achieve desired treatment outcomes during and after care. The Staff RN demonstrates clinical competence when providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing emergencies, acting as a patient and family advocate to monitor and maintain patient rights. This position uses leadership skills and clinical judgment in coordinating patient care and directing/delegating activities of the patient care clinical team, with progressive responsibility including serving as a preceptor to new employees and contributing to initiatives in partnership with management. prepares, assembles, and sterilizes instruments and supplies per sterilization standards; maintains records and monitors quality control and infection control standards; provides asset management for surgical instruments and trays Prepares equipment and assists providers during treatment, examination, and testing of patients; ensures exam rooms are stocked, neat, and orderly; cleans, sterilizes, and tests medical equipment Finance Self‑motivated to manage time independently, document care promptly, minimize incidental overtime, and prioritize daily tasks Provides input on department resource utilization, including capital and operational budget needs Contributes to meeting department financial targets through optimizing efficiency and other area specifications Maintains storage of patient products in a neat, orderly fashion; supports inventory management for clinical materials by maintaining accurate inventory through routine reconciliation Growth and Innovation Champions new care pathways or service line implementations to improve community care;
