Law Enforcement Officer

Provides law enforcement and protection to the citizens of Tarrant County including performing duties in the Operations Division, which includes but is not limited to Judicial, Patrol, Investigations, Warrants and Community Relations-Training.

Essential duties and responsibilities include patrolling assigned county area, maintaining awareness of area for crime prevention, responding to major offense locations for on-scene investigations, photographing major/fatality accidents, investigating crime scenes, collecting and submitting evidence, completing reports, and assuming control of and responsibility at crime scene by directing/assigning duties to patrol and crime scene officers.

Skills required include good interpersonal and public relations skills, experience or training in public speaking, understanding and applying court orders, relevant State statutes, preparing official documents, and proficiency in the use of defensive tactics requiring physical force including the use of intermediate impact weapons and firearms.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, U.S. citizenship, completion of a Texas Basic Peace Officer course and being licensable by TCOLE at the time of hire, a valid Texas Driver's License, and willingness to work nights, evenings, overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

Physical demands include stooping, sitting, walking, running, climbing stairs or ladders, lifting up to 100 lbs, exerting physical force, sitting at the computer for prolonged periods, handling K-9, running/fighting to apprehend fugitives daily, and exposure to communicable diseases.
