CNA Course Instructor

The CNA Course Instructor is responsible for the education, training and growth of enrolled students. This position develops and coordinates validation of the competencies of all students for each class to ensure successful completion of courses and tests. Promotes excellence of proper care and treatment of residents/patients that meet or exceeds the company’s expectations for a result of a smooth transition into the role of a Nursing Assistant. Responsible for mentoring and identifying training needs while providing support to all students. Additionally, there is a mentoring component to ensure training assimilation and support. Adheres to Federal and State regulations, and follows all company policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

• Assesses the learning needs of the students through direct observation, formal learning assessments and indirectly through review of quality improvement and/or program evaluation.

• Plans, conducts, monitors and tracks training to meet the state’s training requirements.

• Coordinates and participates in the center orientations and multi-center orientation’s where applicable of all students who successfully pass class. Provides modules during orientation to all students using the appropriate materials under the direction and oversight of the NACI Supervisor and Executive Director of Clinical Services (EDCS).

• Coordinates, implements and maintains organized student files/records for all students in each class.

• Attends state mandatory meetings.

• Maintains mandatory credentials per state and federal regulations.

• Assists in tracking, evaluating, and measuring the impact of training programs and learning activities on students

• Treats all residents/patients, visitors and staff with courtesy.

• Attends and participates in in-service training, Quality Performance Improvement (“QPI”) committees and other meetings as scheduled and directed.

• Continuously communicates with Executive Director, DON and other team members.

• Safety

o   Knows and follows center rules

o   Demonstrates proper use of equipment. reports equipment needs/repairs to management

o   Reports and documents any incident reports or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate center personnel

o   Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to a supervisor

o   Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents as assigned in the Center Disaster Plan

o   Uses required protective equipment

Other Duties

• Participates in all-hands dining

• Performs other duties as directed by center management

• Works overtime, holiday and weekend hours as scheduled

Minimum Qualifications

• Possesses a current license to practice in the State as an RN

• Experience in giving medications to a large group of residents

• Ability to use necessary supplies and equipment (feeding pumps, oxygen, treatment trays, medication cart, etc.)

• Able to calculate drug dosages

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

The responsibilities of this position involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 60 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling. Tasks marked with an asterisk (*) are those that regularly require these physical activities. All employees of nursing homes may be required to provide lifting and transfer assistance to residents/patients. Lifting and/or transferring some residents/patients will require the use of a lifting device and/or assistance of other staff.
