Registered Nurse - Mother Baby / Postpartum

Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to postpartum women and newborns in a dedicated Mother-Baby unit. Deliver comprehensive assessments, discharge planning, and patient education to ensure maternal and infant well-being.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Administer direct patient care for postpartum women and newborns, assessing for risks such as sepsis, VTE/DVT, and pressure injuries.
  
  
• 
  Perform clinical procedures including circumcisions and monitor patient progress using vital signs, glucometers, and other equipment.
  
  
• 
  Document patient information accurately within the Meditech and CPN systems, ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
  
  
• 
  Collaborate with the healthcare team to prioritize patient needs and manage care flow effectively amid fluctuating staffing levels.
  
  
• 
  Educate patients on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions utilizing AIDET principles.
  
  
• 
  Maintain unit standards by adhering to dress codes, policies, and certification requirements.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Graduate from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
  
  
• 
  Valid BLS and NRP certifications are required.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate proficiency in postpartum and neonatal patient care.
  
  
• 
  Ability to recognize and respond to clinical risks, including sepsis and thromboembolism.
  
  
• 
  Proven skills in patient assessment, education, and emergency procedures.
