Senior Staff Accountant - Full-Cycle Accounting & Month-End Close

Position Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on accountant who has owned the full accounting cycle, from daily transactions through month-end close and reporting. The ideal candidate has been directly responsible for closing the books and presenting the month-end financial package to leadership. Experience at a smaller company where you managed the process end to end is valued.

Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Reporting

• Own the full month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and present the monthly financial package to the Accounting Manager and CFO after close, explaining results and key variances.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including AR, cash, and inventory, to the general ledger.
• Maintain organized journal entry and reconciliation documentation to support audits and reviews.
• Compile monthly documentation for the bank borrowing base certificate.
• Identify process improvements to make the close faster and more accurate.

Accounts Receivable, Billing & Cash

• Process customer invoices accurately and on time, including NAVAIR invoicing documentation through the WAWF system.
• Apply customer payments, process non-AR cash receipts, and record related journal entries.
• Maintain the daily cash and bank activity ledger.
• Monitor customer accounts for past-due balances and discrepancies, and follow up to resolve them.
• Process account adjustments, credits, and contras as needed.
• Prepare and distribute monthly customer statements.
• Review new customer credit applications, complete credit reference checks, and maintain current tax-exempt certificates.
• Prepare invoices and supporting documentation for commission processing.

Additional Support

• Assist with inventory cycle counts and reconciliation.
• Support payroll processing as needed.
• Provide accounting support to the Accounting Manager and CFO and assist with other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting experience with direct responsibility for the full accounting cycle.
• Demonstrated experience owning the month-end close and presenting the monthly financial package to a manager, controller, or CFO.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Payroll experience, particularly with UKG Ready.
• Experience with Quantum ERP.
• Aviation or government contracting experience, including WAWF invoicing.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
