Environmental Services Technician - Housekeeper

SUMMARY The Environmental Services Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in accordance with organizational standards of quality and is an essential contributor to infection prevention, patient experience and the overall health and safety of patients, staff and visitors within our healthcare facilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Cleaning and Maintenance Perform routine cleaning of clinic areas, including patient rooms, waiting areas, restrooms, and administrative offices. Handle waste disposal in compliance with health and safety regulations, including hazardous and biohazardous materials. Demonstrate working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements set forth by the CDC, Association for Health Care Environment (AHE) and other regulatory bodies. Clean and disinfect equipment and areas of assignment according to procedures, policies and manufacturer recommendations. Follow all environmental and infection prevention practices (proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper use of personal protective equipment when applicable). Perform basic maintenance duties if needed (e.g., changing lightbulbs and filters, fire extinguisher inspection). Safety and Compliance Follow infection control procedures and protocols to prevent the spread of diseases. Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control standards and promote a culture of safety. Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA). Equipment and Supplies Operate and maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment. Replenish cleaning supplies and report inventory needs to the Purchasing Inventory. Handle and store cleaning chemicals properly and safely. Patient and Staff Interaction Interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff, maintaining a positive and respectful environment. Address any concerns or requests related to cleanliness and hygiene promptly and effectively. Special Duties Assist in setting up and breaking down rooms for special events or procedures as needed. Participate in training sessions and meetings related to environmental services and safety. Assist in onboarding new Environmental Service Technicians as requested. Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects identified by the executive team and/or the Facilities Director. Safety & Health Employees are expected to follow CHS safety and health policies. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience in a cleaning or environmental services role, particularly in a healthcare setting, is advantageous. Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety practices. Ability to operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
