Title: Victims Services Specialist
Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (Full-time)
Location: Golden, CO
Starting Pay : $20.30/hr

OVERVIEW
Provide comprehensive services to victims of violent crimes, particularly domestic violence, in a dignified and respectful environment, and in compliance with Victim Rights Act.
This is a partial grant-funded position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Victim Services Specialist works with the on-site Program Manager and Director of Victim Services to provide comprehensive services to victims of crimes, with an emphasis on domestic violence victims in a dignified and respectful environment in 2 jurisdictions. The VA also works within Intervention's policy and procedures as outlined by the Director of Operations and Victim Services.
• Manage a caseload and provide initial notification to each victim and provide a copy of the Victim Rights Amendment and provide Critical Stage Event Notifications to victims upon request. The VSS will implement Intervention's Victim Services Policy to help identify victim needs and adhere to the Colorado Crime Victim Rights Act.
• Provide referrals as needed to crisis intervention programs, shelters, medical and dental clinics, legal aid, nonprofit organizations, job training, food banks, adult education, childcare agencies, housing, communities of faith, mental health services, support groups and human service organizations as needed.
• Provide personal assistance to victims of crime for locating and applying for victim compensation and other community victim assistance funds. Assist victims with collection of restitution if ordered and intercede with employers if needed to allow the victim to testify in court.
• Cultivate a resource and referral bank and establish partnerships with victim and other organizations concerned with victim rights and criminal justice practices.
• Attend all community and local committee and group meetings concerning domestic violence and victims of crime that may be coordinated by the Probation Department, District Attorney and other community coalitions.
• Provide or arrange for translation services if needed and educate victims and their families about the criminal justice system, the process and expectations.
• Maintain victim files according to Intervention policy and procedures and provide additional support to the field service office daily operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Minimum of an Associate's degree in related fields of Human Services from an accredited university or college. Consideration is given to candidates who possess a certificate of achievement as a Colorado Crime Victim Advocate.

Requirements: Relevant and timely experience working with victims of crime or people in crisis and/or trauma or experience as a volunteer crime victim advocate

SKILLS

• Computer skills -- Ability to enter data, generate reports and create communications from variety of software programs and databases
• Ability to treat victims with empathy and respect
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• Knowledge of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
• Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Company staff, stakeholders, and with diverse client base.
• Must pass background check and have ability to access state criminal databases

*This is a partially grant funded position contingent on approval of funding by the 19th and 20th Judicial District VALE Boards.
