About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Palliative Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8 Hours Hours per Shift: 0730 or 0800 start time Experience: Minimum of 2 years in palliative and/or hospice setting License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS certification required, ELNEC preferred Must-Have: 2-5 years of recent experience in a palliative care setting. Strong acute care, clinical thinking, and communication skills. Flexibility and strong organizational skills. Desire to serve patients and their families. Description: This position involves caring for patients who meet the palliative care screening requirements in a hospital setting. The registered nurse will manage a case load and conduct visits for new and follow-up patients. Responsibilities include developing a daily list for patient visits and reviewing patient charts. RNs will assess patient needs and open goals of care discussions. Education on disease processes, advance directives, and POLSTs will be provided. Family meetings may be held as needed, as well as end-of-life discussions and support. The registered nurse will attend daily rounds and coordinate care with the team. Consults per day range from 10-15 for the entire team. Experience in ICU and oncology is a plus. Candidates should possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to serve as part of a multidisciplinary team. Business casual attire is required, along with comfortable shoes. The position requires flexibility to visit various units throughout the facility.
