About the Position

Registered Nurse - Palliative Care

Location: Carmichael, California

Start Date: 05-27-2026

End Date: 08-26-2026

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, up to every other weekend, rotating holidays

Hours per Week: 40

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop daily patient lists and review charts to ensure top-notch care
• Assess patient needs and open meaningful goals of care discussions
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, advance directives, and POLSTs
• Facilitate family meetings and provide compassionate end-of-life support
• Attend daily rounds to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
• Manage a caseload of 5-6 new patients and 3-4 follow-ups daily

Education

• RN degree from an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong acute care background and clinical thinking
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Flexibility and a genuine desire to serve patients, families, and team members
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license in California
• BLS certification required, ELNEC preferred
• 2-5 years recent experience in palliative care or hospice
• ICU or oncology experience a plus
