Business Development Manager

Overview The Chefs' Warehouse, Inc. provides quality ingredients and broadline food service distribution for more than 40 years. We service discerning chefs with Protein, Specialty, Produce, and Broadline offerings and partner with more than 4,000 artisan producers from over 40 countries to support more than 50,000 customers through a network of 600 consultive sales associates, technology, rapid service, and strong relationships with premium restaurants. Position Summary The Business Development Manager is responsible for increasing sales by developing new business opportunities and expanding existing sales within the foodservice sector. Focus areas include multi-unit group business, platinum level account retention/growth, and recovering at-risk accounts within those parameters. What you’ll do Effectively manage and develop sales in current and new foodservice channels through multi-faceted research; collaborate with the sales staff to identify opportunities to meet budgeted sales goals. Create and execute a methodical, goal-oriented process for each identified opportunity; develop custom-tailored ideas based on each customer’s needs. Demonstrate a high level of closing ability and skill. Build relationships with key decision makers and maintain them after account onboarding and turnover to sales. Maintain regular oversight of accounts to maximize sales potential. Analyze trends, menus, and order guides against customer purchases to generate valuable recommendations and maximize sales. Clean unfiltered data to create cost comparisons, then present it in a customer-friendly format. Acquire street-level business intelligence and translate it into actionable follow-up and appointments with decision makers. Develop content for sales presentations customizable for each opportunity. Support corporate business through daily communications. Collaborate with Transportation to ensure routes are optimized to maximize tonnage. Travel to account HQ meetings in a supporting role. Regularly review sales reports to identify sleeper accounts and opportunities to further leverage sales potential. About you 4-year degree in Business or related field preferred. 5–7 years of progressive growth in food service sales. Five+ years of sales experience in the food service or culinary sector. Advanced training in recent sales techniques preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Office). Proven leadership and motivation skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced selling environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently. Presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
