As a Registered Nurse (RN) in a correctional setting, you will provide essential healthcare services to incarcerated individuals, ensuring they receive proper medical care, treatment, and support. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals, including assessment, treatment, and education on various medical issues. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation and follow‑up. Monitor and manage patients with chronic conditions, ensuring appropriate interventions and care plans are in place. Perform health assessments and physical exams, identifying both acute and chronic medical conditions. Provide emergency care and first aid, responding to medical emergencies within the facility. Assist with the management of communicable diseases, infection control, and preventive care programs. Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations. Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for each patient. Educate inmates on health issues, disease prevention, wellness, and self‑care. Qualifications‏ Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN nursing experience (correctional or acute care experience preferred). Certification: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through AHA or ARC. Skills: Strong clinical skills and the ability to make sound nursing judgments in high‑pressure situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability curvature. Knowledge of infection control procedures, chronic disease management, and emergency nursing care. Strong documentation and organizational skills.
