Water Resources Engineer - Mid Level

WRA is currently seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer in our Virginia Beach, VA office. This position will work with other Virginia regions as well. Responsibilities will include hydrologic/hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage, stormwater management (SWM) and erosion/sediment control (ESC) design primarily for transportation projects. Responsibilities will include the following: Performing hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) watershed analysis and modeling for river mechanics / Floodplain Studies Preparation or modification of drainage design on CADD drawings/ construction plan documents Water quality, quantity, design per VA DEQ regulations Storm sewer system design and profiles Erosion and sediment control design Bridge/culvert hydraulics and design, including scour analysis Other duties may include performing GIS based project background mapping, utilization of H&H modeling software, technical report preparation, and construction cost estimating. Some field work may be required;, therefore, the candidate will need a vehicle or access to transportation for this position. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with 5-10 years of relevant experience Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer required Experience designing drainage, stormwater management systems/BMP’s, erosion and sediment pollution controls; and preparing contract documents preferred. Experience with H/H design software includingHY-8,NRCS (TR-55/TR-20); HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, Pondpack et. al preferred Hands-on experience with MicroStation CADD software. Understanding of 3D design, including OpenRoads Designer, a plus.
