Location: New Haven, CT
Base Salary: $100,000 to $125,000Key ResponsibilitiesAs Controller, you will lead all accounting operations while partnering closely with ownership and management to ensure the financial strength and continued growth of the organization.
Oversee all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Job Costing, and General Ledger activities.
Manage the month-end close process and prepare all supporting schedules and reconciliations.
Produce accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for management.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.
Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records and accounting processes.
Work closely with ownership and management on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
Monitor company performance and identify opportunities to increase profitability and operational efficiency.
Assist leadership with financial analysis, special projects, and business initiatives.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
Strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures to support organizational goals.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Ensure payroll and other critical accounting functions are completed accurately and on schedule.
Oversee job costing processes and ensure accurate tracking of project costs and profitability.
Analyze project performance and provide meaningful reporting to management.
Partner with operational teams to strengthen financial visibility and accountability across projects.Qualifications & Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
Experience in construction, contracting, project-based, manufacturing, or similar environments is highly preferred.
Strong background in financial reporting, month-end close, payroll, and job costing.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Experience managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger functions.
Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports.
Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Hands-on approach with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
