As a Billing Specialist, you'll play a vital role in ensuring First Step House receives accurate and timely reimbursement for the medical and behavioral health services we provide.

You'll:

• Submit clean medical, laboratory, and specialty program claims
• Investigate and resolve claim denials and billing issues
• Perform Medicaid eligibility verification and insurance follow-up
• Reconcile and maintain accounts receivable
• Stay current on Medicaid, Medicare, and payer updates
• Work closely with internal departments to resolve eligibility and billing concerns
• Help maintain timely, accurate billing practices that support the financial health of the organization

What you bring:

Education & Experience

• At least one year of medical billing experience required
• Experience billing family practice or similar healthcare services preferred
• Experience billing Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance required
• Knowledge of Medicare regulations and compliance standards
• Experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment is a plus
• Strong written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
