The Neuro Medicine Team Lead/Charge Nurse assists bedside staff with clinical tasks throughout the day to support patient safety and timeliness of care.

The 34 bed Neuro Medicine floor offers a unique opportunity for clinical nurses to improve and gain critical thinking skills, assessment skills, problem solving skills and time management skills. The unit provides care to a diverse population with a specialty in neuro-medicine and epilepsy monitoring unit. In the 12 bed EMU we work with physicians to induce and monitor patients with seizures. We also provide care to our neuro surgical patients offering an experience with both the medical and surgical population. Often our patients have multi-system clinical diagnosis providing the clinical nurse and graduate nurse with a solid foundation as they continue or as they start their nursing career.

Role Purpose

Under the direction of manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of assigned unit as needed.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting.
• Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
• Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence-based practices.
• Analyzes gap in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care.
• BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Requirements

• Nursing Diploma/Associate's - Nursing
• 2-5 years experience
• No Supervisor Experience
• RN license

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree - Nursing
• 5-10 years experience
