Position Overview

\n

SAVI EHS is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to support a large-scale pharmaceutical construction project in Durham, North Carolina.

\n

\n

This position will work closely with project leadership, trade partners, and client representatives to oversee site-wide safety compliance and drive a proactive safety culture throughout all phases of construction. Candidates with previous pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, cleanroom, or highly regulated manufacturing construction experience are strongly preferred.

\n

\n

The ideal candidate will have a strong construction safety background, experience managing multiple subcontractors, and the ability to support a fast-paced project while maintaining the highest safety standards.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance for all construction activities
\n
• Conduct documented daily site inspections, audits, and safety observations
\n
• Review and participate in Daily Hazard Analyses (DHAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs)
\n
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, and site-specific safety plans
\n
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
\n
• Support high-risk operations including crane activities, rigging, excavation, fall protection, confined space entry, and electrical work
\n
• Deliver site-specific safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training
\n
• Verify worker qualifications, certifications, and training requirements
\n
• Track and analyze leading and lagging safety indicators
\n
• Partner with project leadership to maintain an injury-free workplace and strong safety culture
\n
• Serve as a liaison between the client, project team, and trade partner safety representatives
\n

Minimum Qualifications

\n

\n
• 5+ years of construction EHS experience
\n
• Previous pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, semiconductor, or highly regulated manufacturing construction experience strongly preferred
\n
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction Standards
\n
• Experience supporting large commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects
\n
• OSHA 30 required
\n
• OSHA 510 preferred
\n
• OSHA 500 preferred
\n
• CHST, STSC, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP certification preferred
\n
• Strong communication and leadership skills
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety management platforms
\n
