Community Philanthropy Manager - Prospect Research & Management
Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Community Philanthropy Manager – Prospect Research & Management on behalf of Oregon Food Bank (OFB) . This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid opportunity based in Oregon or Southwest Washington. The position reports to the Community Philanthropy Associate Director – Operations and supervises three Prospect Research & Management Developers and vendors/consultants.
Who We Are
Oregon Food Bank (OFB) believes that no one should be hungry. Our mission is to eliminate hunger and its root causes. We believe that food and health are basic human rights for all. We know that hunger is not just an individual experience; it is also a community-wide symptom of systemic barriers to employment, education, housing and health care, such as systemic racism, sexism, and cissexism. That's why we work systemically to achieve our mission: we foster community connections to help people access nutritious food, build community power, strengthen networks of support, and dismantle systems and policies that drive hunger and poverty.
Who You Are
You care deeply about community and people experiencing hunger, holding them at the center of your work. You are committed to applying equity as both a process and an outcome, disrupting systemic social patterns that perpetuate hunger, including racism, sexism, and cissexism. You have a strong affinity with OFB's 10-Year Vision and are excited to help achieve it alongside our community.
Position Summary
You will join 45+ Community Philanthropy colleagues working collaboratively to eliminate hunger and its root causes. Together, we mobilize more than $44 million in annual support for Oregon Food Bank's mission and 10-Year Vision. Our work reclaims philanthropy's true meaning—a love for humankind—through community-centric programs that place equity at their core.
As the Community Philanthropy Manager – Prospect Research & Management, you will lead the design, implementation, and facilitation of prospect research and management programs that advance relationship development, fundraising objectives, and organizational priorities. Reporting to the Community Philanthropy Associate Director – Operations, you will supervise three Prospect Research & Management Developers and oversee supporting vendors and consultants. Your team will manage complex reporting, data analysis, database systems, donor research, portfolio management, project coordination, and prospect strategy meetings.
This position may be performed from anywhere within Oregon or Southwest Washington. Employees may establish a home base at OFB facilities in Beaverton, Ontario, Portland, The Dalles, or Tillamook, Oregon, or work predominantly from a home office with periodic required onsite visits. Accommodations may be available.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Community Philanthropy Director and Associate Director – Operations to design and implement prospect research and management programs aligned with departmental strategic priorities, annual goals, and revenue objectives.
- Lead annual revenue budgeting through project planning, financial analysis, tools, and processes that support effective fundraising strategies.
- Design prospect management systems and departmental practices that strengthen leadership and principal gifts programs, optimize donor giving capacity, and center equity in relationship management.
- Supervise, coach, guide, and develop Prospect Research & Management staff while overseeing consultants and vendors supporting the team's work.
- Provide program management oversight of prospect development functions, including donor and prospect research, relationship management systems, list pulls, database administration, and data analytics.
- Develop and maintain prospect tracking systems within donor databases, including moves management, proposals, relationship activity, and qualitative engagement indicators.
- Lead annual work planning and expense budgeting for the Prospect Research & Management Team, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and timelines.
- Design and maintain top-prospect relationship management, proposal tracking, gift tracking, and regular progress-to-goal reporting systems.
- Maintain Raiser's Edge NXT (RENXT) systems and integrations supporting government and movement-building partner relationship management, government funding tracking, grant compliance, and reconciliation between RENXT, EveryAction, and Sage Intacct.
- Facilitate regular moves management and donor/prospect strategy meetings, promoting transparency, trust, accountability, and transformational relationship development.
- Identify potential major gift donors with giving capacity of $10,000 or more and assign qualified prospects to appropriate relationship managers.
- Conduct high-level research on individuals, corporations, and foundations; prepare prospect profiles, biographies, analyses, and reports tailored to specific audiences.
- Onboard and train Community Philanthropy colleagues in prospect development programs, database standards, and technical systems.
- Participate as a member of Oregon Food Bank's Community Philanthropy Leadership Team and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Organizational Responsibilities
As an exempt employee and organizational leader, you will:
- Serve as an ambassador for OFB's mission, vision, and commitment to addressing systemic causes of hunger.
- Collaborate across departments and contribute to organizational initiatives, advisory groups, work culture activities, and equity-focused programming.
- Participate in professional development that strengthens technical expertise, leadership effectiveness, cultural competency, and organizational impact.
- Support an inclusive, responsive, mission-driven environment while adapting responsibilities to evolving organizational priorities.
Skills and Experience Required

- Five years of experience in prospect research and management, moves management, sales operations, or related fields.
- Three years of experience leading, coaching, training, or inspiring teams, including direct supervision of staff or interns, oversight of consultants and vendors, volunteer leadership, or peer project leadership.
